NE PLUS ULTRA LOL 1688

This Lodge meets in the Babington Memorial Hall on the last Tuesday of each month. The Lodge is now in possession of two warrants. One issued on the lst January 1825, in the name of Bro. William Cooke as W.M., the other, under, which the Lodge has met since it was first issued on the 11th May 1864, is in the name of Bro. Thomas Ballintine, W.M. The first issued warrant was handed over by Bro. Samuel Henderson, L.O.L. No.1011, Dungannon, at a meeting of the Lodge on 25th October 1866. The second warrant when issued, according to recorded minutes, was a travelling warrant permitting meetings to be held in different houses around Altnagelvin and also in the Maiden City Arms Hotel, Linenhall Street.

The lodge, has on the roll 4 honorary members with a total of 156 years' service between them.

One interesting item in possession of the Lodge is a transfer certificate issued on behalf of Bro. James Chambers who left the Lodge on transfer on 28th June 1853. This certificate was presented to the Lodge for safe keeping by Bro. Folder of Dublin.
Some items of interest appearing in the minutes, e.g. November 1883, Bro. Thomas Ballintine, W.M., and members of the Lodge assisted at the opening of a new Lodge at Letterkenny. About the same time a few members of the Lodge transferred to form a new Lodge at Inch, Co. Donegal.

At a meeting of the Lodge held on Wednesday, 1st July, 1885, it was agreed to lend the flag of the Lodge to the new Lodge No. 2048 at Fawney Fort for the forthcoming 12th July with the request that many members as possible should accompany the new Lodge to Castlerock.
